Lost Your Pet?

Rescued by C.A.R.E
(Coalition for Animal Rescue and Education)

Please DON'T think that making phone calls to the shelters is all you need to do.  You MUST go to the shelters.  The way you describe your pet, may not be the way someone else sees it.  You might call it a lab mix and the shelter might have it listed as a Pitbull mix.  Also mistakes in listing the correct sex and age happen at EVERY shelter.  The people that answer the phone are in the office and if the shelter is large, they usually only know what is in the computer.

County specific information is located further below.  Also be advised that many times people think if they take the animal to the Animal Protective Association ("APA") or the Humane Society, they'll have a better chance of surviving. Yes even all the way from Jefferson County and beyond.  So check both of those places also.

The above two organizations along with St. Louis County Animal Control take in the majority of the strays in St. Louis City and County.  They have worked together and created http://www.stllostpets.org/ to list the pets from all their organizations.

and this nifty site http://www.petharbor.com/ shows strays from many of the animal controls and non-profit shelters in the area.

If your animal has been gone a long time, look at the adoption websites. It is possible that your animal was rescued and is now available for adoption.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, MISSOURI

If you have lost your pet in and around Jefferson County, please check Jefferson County's web site that shows the strays on stray hold.  Animals on stray hold appear on the stray page for five to seven days until they fall off of stray hold and then become adoptable and available for rescues to pull.  The animals are then moved to the adoptable page.  Check both.

Also check our Facebook Page.   Often times our pictures are a bit better than JCACs.
